Local guitar fans who may be used to hearing bona fide electric guitar hero Perf de Castro in a pop/rock setting (Rivermaya) or an electric blues/rock setting (Triaxis) may not know of his classical side, in which Perf ditches his amps and effects for an acoustic ten-string guitar. Yes, that's right - 10 strings - or four more than what you'd know what to do with.
Apparently the US-based Perf has made quite a name for himself as a 10-string virtuoso. As such, he is often found making the rounds of festivals doing the recital circuit. And for those who'd like to sample this side of Perf, he's just released a new independent CD called "A Journey through 10 Strings."
Track list is as follows:
Two Lute Pieces Sylvius Leopold Weiss (1686-1750)
Fantasie
Allegro
Prelude Etnika - Lucrecia R. Kasilag (b. 1918)
Dahil sa Isang Bulaklak (Because of a Flower)-Leopoldo Silos
Hatinggabi (Midnight) Antonio Molina (1894-1980)
Tocatta - Lucrecia R. Kasilag (b. 1918)
Sylph Dance - Rohan Leach (b. 1970)
Canco Trista (Lavia) - Paco Talarn

You can purchase the CD directly from Perf's site using Paypal. Way to go Perfecto!
